Right, I just saw a music video on tv that reminded me of when I was younger. I am so damn bored that I got to thinking - it would be pretty cool to make a thread that features things that remind you of the past. So we can share the omg's and perhaps restart interest in them, who knows :D It can be anything - songs, toys, cartoons, adverts, books... ANYTHING!!

I'm going to start with...

Music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4id5fgLwsu0&mode=related&search=)
Advert (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1jywlZG74o&mode=related&search=)
Cartoon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHfy0PH5W6E)

And I shall probably edit this with more later on :)

Aw the X-men cartoon I had so forgotten about that, I used to watch that and love it, lol, and that song, lol! It was infectious and annoying but I loved it! :-p Wanna go back to when it was all new! There's a few adverts that I used to love, I'm trying to find videos of them, I'll add them once I've found them ;)

Any one remember this cartoon? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LET3nCX8x0)

Dexter's Lab! I used to watch that, and the Powerpuff Girls.

That Tango ad had to be taken off air because too many kids were going round slappin' their friends hehe. Actually I think they replaced it with the guy giving him a kiss instead.

Omg, I watched Power Rangers. I loved it. I remember it always being on on Saturday morning.

And Gladiators rulled. I met one of them in primary school. Can't even remember his name but I have a photo with him. It wasn't the big scary one unfortunately. The Big bad wolfe or something was his name lol.

Blind date....what a classic. I wish that was still on. And the Crystal maze....such memories!

Button Moon, Rainbows and Sooty and Sweep! Connie, what you watched was practically the same as me. And also, just remembered another. The magic Roundabout.

Evangeline Lilly
29th September 2006, 10:03 PM
I was about to search for the Magic Roundabout on youtube. I loved that show too.

Did anyone watch The Moomins? I remember watching that all the time as a kid. I'm not sure what animals they were supposed to be, or where they their own breed? lol

Collateral Damage
29th September 2006, 10:06 PM
Someone needs to tell me what Button Moon actually is :-p because Connie was always going on about it and so was Tiff at one point... but I'd never heard of it until they said something about it... well actually they were asking me why I hadn't ever watched it, lol!

The Magic round about was ace too... I was trying to think of the name of something I used to watch that was on really early in the morning when I was 7 or 8 I think, I would always be up and just randomly flicking through all those early morning kids programs and it would be on.... Unfortunately You Tube won't let you search for videos at the moment, or it won't let me :( I'll figure it out somewhen over this weekend, lol!

Did anyone watch The Moomins? I remember watching that all the time as a kid. I'm not sure what animals they were supposed to be, or where they their own breed? lol

I watched it once and then swore I would never watch it again, they scared the crap out of me whenever I used to watch it, or see an ad for it :-p Whatever they were, it wasn't normal... it was freaky, lol!

I didn'y like the Moomins, but I was just looking back on early posts. I loved the Animals of Farthing Wood! It was one of my all time favourites. Although I watched it once a week and couldn't really keep up. I remember only one part. When the two hedgehogs got run over! Not subtiable for kids!

I loved Thomas the Tank Engine. I kept all my videos and then I came home one day and my mum had decided to have a bit of a spring clean and had given them away  I got so mad she's never even suggested I get rid of things anymore. I mean they were classic episodes, all narrated by Ringo Starr. The classic book adaptations. They don't make them like that anymore.

I still have my Thomas books though :D and the models. They don't make the models like they used to either. They're all plastic and have detachable coal bunkers. I have the proper metal ones  some of them are a little battered but some of them are in pretty good condition. I lost my Bertie the bus though and my Edward but I got a new Edward for Christmas but no Bertie.

I also liked Fireman Sam and Postman Pat. Not the new Postman Pat but the old proper one. I also liked this cartoon series but I can't remember what it was called. It had this teddy sliding down this shoot in the opening sequence and it was all abandoned and I think it's arm was torn or something and I swear it had something to do with space. Google isn't being very helpful with that description though. I thought it was Bananaman but it wasn't. It was years ago I can't remember.

I also liked the X-men cartoon but I invariably missed it because it was on at different times between Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers, neither of which I liked. I did kinda like the new Spiderman though. Not the really old weird one but the new one.

People in primary school used to have tins full of pogs; they collected them hehe. I think I had a tube full of them. Then it was Pokemon cards. They were banned from my school after a while. Now you never see them about.

Actually, there is a collecters shop in Yeovil, and pokemon cards still have a huge following here. We are a town of geeks and chavs...it's not pretty!!

Yay Super Ted! I just watched the intro on youtube. It was just as I remembered it. :D

I still love yo-yo's. I bought one in Sweden but it broke and I haven't bought another one. Hmm. Must get one. I never really went in for the popular stuff. When everyone went through that weird alien faze I played basketball and I still played basketball when it went on to the next thing. I only stopped when I stunned my thumb playing and couldn't move it for ages. Ooooh scary times.

I love this thread. It's nice remembering childhood :D Mind you I still like most things but as I'm always saying I'm six at heart right down to the yearning for velcro trainers which light up when you walk.
