18.09 The Hospital Job

"The Hospital Job"

'Dawson helps the officers investigate antiques dealer Mr Brigstocke, who is accused of selling stolen goods. Mason and Wetherby stake out the shop to catch him red-handed, but the situation turns life-threatening when Brigstocke sets fire to it. Meanwhile, prejudices are stirred by the arrival of Taoist monks and tragedy strikes local troublemakers Julie and Eddie Tinniswood'

(Source: Wikipedia)

Another excellent episode (but not quite as good as last weeks imo). Interesting they gave Wetherby the job as acting sergeant, I think Joe should have got it, since he's been there longer.

Also interesting to see the Australian storyline progresing - with Carol saying she's going to look for her long lost brother.

I thought is was a bit dumb of Joe not to think of going through that ventilation shaft when the fire started -- it was the obvious thing to do!

Not just Joe, but it didn't occur to Don either - sloppy scriptwriting? It really was ludicrous that it was left to a teenage girl to suggest it.

And assuming that Joe is an intelligent lad, he'd have known not to open the door without Don having to scream at him not to do it.

I find it hard to believe that no one who read the script wouldn't have pointed that out. It would have taken a minimal adjustment.

Yeah I totally agree. Still a great episode though!

I had a notification of a post in this thread, but it's not here - was something deleted?

Spam I suspect. I'm having trouble with it. I've tried everything I can think of to stop it happening but nothings worked so I'm just trying to delete it as soon as possible. Sorry for the annoyance.

No annoyance at all...just confusion.

The only way I know how to stop spam is to check before approving membership, and check all email addresses with one of the "known spammers" sites.

Does anyone know when the final 9 episodes are to be screened?

Not sure, they've got Lewis on at the moment, then there's another 3 episodes of TR to come (more than likely, we'll have to wait until later this year for these) and there'll be football coverage over the summer, so who knows what scheduling plans ITV have

ITV's attitude and behaviour has been totally disrespectful to viewers, and to everyone involved in Heartbeat.

At the very least, it deserved a proper send-off.

Quite. But we musn't give up fighting for it I've heard rumours that Sky and the BBC were interested in buying the rights and recommissioning, but it all depends on whether ITV are willing to sell.

Why wouldn't they sell if they don't want it themselves?

I'm sure they could keep the rights to older episodes, if that was a problem.

Mind, this is ITV we're talking about. What's the phrase - dog in a manger?

If ITV have no plans to make anymore epsiodes, then i think it would be advantageous to them to sell the rights. Although various issues could arise with the way other channels may produce the shows. If they become unrecogniseable, then the fans aren't going to enjoy them. But i think it's worth a try.
